Gran Turismo HD - A Taste of What's to Come

Kazunori Yamauchi, head of Polyphony Digital has talked about the next Gran Turismo title in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu.
Of the two principal points mentioned in the article, the first which may come as a suprise to some is that the parenthetical "working title" has been dropped from the name, suggesting that Gran Turismo HD is indeed the final title. Secondly, while Yamauchi lavished praise on the game's high-definition graphics, he stated that the game was not the true next-gen heir to the popular racing series' crown. So we can expect another sequel after this, Gran Turismo 6 anyone?*
Yamauchi called Gran Turismo HD a "port" of the data from Gran Turismo 4, simply just taking advantage of the PlayStation 3's graphical capabilities. As well as this he implied that development of the next-gen game is already under way, albeit at an early stage. "We are working on a version of GT that supports the full PS3 specification, but in this transitional version, I think you'll get a taste of the potential that next generation games hold."

What do you feel about GTHD being a port, and having to wait a long time for a real next gen GT? Talk about it at GT Boards!
*Footnote: Polyphony Digital owns both granturismo6.com and granturismo6.net domains, implying they are planning on making a game with this title.

I've been saying for ages that HD is simply the GT4 engine running on somthing close to PS3 architecture,
however i did'nt imagine that Polyphony would actually release it as a game, obviously sony want a GT title as a launch title but this does not inspire me about the possibilities of ' next gen' consoles. I must admit the PS3 game footage looks better than the stuff on the 360 but , so far, developers seem to be resting on their laurels and there really isn't anything out there that can truly be called next gen ( xbox 360 ) The 360 is a huge dissapointment, most of the games do seem a little better than normal but basically look the same as a last gen machine, maybe a little more on screen and greater draw distance but nothing jaw dropping so far.
PS3 is what everyone is waiting for for true next gen gaming but now we are told Gran Turismo will debut as a GT4 port. I will get it and i will enjoy it but just think of the difference between GT2 and GT3, thats the difference we should be seeing on a next gen console and i'm sure that polyphony's decision to release HD is, in most part, down to sony.
